Paramore’s Guitarist and Drummer Call It Quits
Josh and Zac Farro, the guitarist and drummer for Paramore, have left the band, according to a statement posted on the band’s official site on Saturday.
“A couple of months ago, Josh and Zac let us know they would be leaving the band after our show in Orlando last Sunday,” the statement — attributed to lead singer Hayley Williams, bassist Jeremy Davis, and guitarist Taylor York — read. “None of us were really shocked. For the last year it hasn’t seemed as if they wanted to be around anymore. We want Josh and Zac to do something that makes them happy and if that isn’t here with us, then we support them finding happiness elsewhere. But we never for a second thought about leaving any of this behind.”

Paramore formed in the early ’00s when the Farro brothers met Williams at school; the band played its first shows in 2004. Their 2007 breakthrough Riot! went platinum, and the single “Misery Business” peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 at Number 26. Last year, the band’s third album Brand New Eyes was released; it spawned the ballad “The Only Exception,” which peaked at Number 24 on the Hot 100.

The Farro brothers haven’t released a statement on the split. Josh Farro’s wife, Jenna, posted that Josh “has been really sick the past few days” and will make an announcement once he is back at full strength. Meanwhile, Alternative Press reports that Zac Farro’s new band, Tunnel, has released a track online. The first song fro the duo, which is rounded out by Jason Clark, is “Hide Your Eyes,” a drony track reminiscent of Radiohead and The Good, the Bad & the Queen.
The remaining members of Paramore are planning to embark on their scheduled South American tour, which kicks off on February 16 in Brasilia. Late Sunday, Williams tweeted, “Paramore is (still) a band,” which is a play on a T-shirt slogan she wore while playing in the UK.
