Page Pulls Plug on Black Crowes Shows

Jimmy Page’s injury forces cancellation of second leg of Crowes tour

Former Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, who has been enjoying a career resurgence touring with the Black Crowes, suffered a back injury that has forced the hybrid band to pull the plug on the second leg of its current tour, which kicked off on June 24 in Chicago.

Reps for the band will not disclose when the injury occurred, however the fifty-six-year-old British guitar icon was well enough to play with the Crowes for a recent taping of The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. The decision to cancel the dates was made soon after they concluded their performance.

The band does plan to reschedule the dates. Though new dates have not yet been set, the band rep revealed that the Crowes/Page combo are aiming to fill in the make-up shows before the third leg of the tour kicks off on Sept. 23 in Miami (the tour ends with the third of three nights at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Oct. 6). There are also plans to extend the tour — if all goes well with Page’s injury — since tickets for the Garden shows sold out in minutes.

In other Led Zeppelin news, the rumored feud between Page and Robert Plant seems to be over. The duo attended a screening for Cameron Crowe’s latest film Almost Famous in London recently (the film uses four Zep songs). And according to an interview with U.K.’s Central News last Thursday, Page revealed that he was in a U.S. studio with Page last week, and that the former bandmates would be recording again in January.
