OK Go Offer Exclusive Peek Behind Next Elaborately Choreographed Video

Behind the scenes on the set of “The Writing’s on the Wall”

OK Go’s video sets are shrouded in mystery. But the band that brought you coordinated treadmill dancing and a mutiple-story Rube Goldberg device offer Rolling Stone a (tantilizingly vague) peek at their next effort in the clip above. The video is for “The Writing’s on the Wall,” a track off their October album Hungry Ghosts, and as you can see, both Twizzlers and frontman Damian Kulash’s dad appear to be involved in the final product.

“Our process is incredibly inefficent but it allows us to do things we couldn’t have dreamt up in advance,” Kulash tells Rolling Stone. “It’s the same way we write music. Bob, one of the other directors on this, has a great motto, which is ‘cut twice measure once.'”

Offering a bit of perspective on the creative process behind the clips, he adds, “A lot of times there’s an art project we’ll want to do and we’ll listen to the album and pick the song that will make the best art project. ‘This Too Shall Pass’ had two videos simply because those were both things we wanted to do and the spirit of them only came through with that song.”

The full video for “The Writing’s on the Wall” will premiere at L.A.’s Museum of Contemporary Art on June 16th — and on Rolling Stone one day later.
