OG Maco, an Atlanta rapper who earned national attention in 2014 for his hit “U Guessed It,” suffered multiple injuries last month in a car accident. According to the rapper’s tweets, the damage included “multiple skull fractures, broken orbital (surgery next week), cracked vertebrae (surgery next week) and heart palpations.” But, he added, “I feel ALIVE!!!”

In the weeks following the accident, Maco has provided frequent updates on his medical status via social media. “Y’all bastards had all these jokes like I really didn’t lose a eye real quick,” he wrote on Wednesday. “I don’t mind.” “For now my eye is gone,” he continued. “Tonight I might get it back with surgery. Just remember we are HUMAN before and after you kick us while we down.”

Despite the severity of his wounds, the rapper maintained a positive attitude. “On the bright side, my plastic surgeon says I can’t get any uglier so fixing my face should be easy,” he joked. On Wednesday, he reflected on the current state of society – “To see a world where the do-ers and dreamers are ridiculed more than losers and conformity is worse than missing an eye” – and thanked friends, fans and family for their support.

OG Maco’s “U Guessed It” cracked the Hot 100 in August of 2014. He later disavowed the hit on Twitter, writing “I knew it would blow because of idiots. ‘U Guessed It’ was not luck. It wasn’t a accident. I made the dumbest song I possibly could on a beat full of bass and knew it would blow. I manipulated over 40 million minds and counting.” The clip has more than 49 million viewers to date.
