Volatile British rockers Oasis canceled two German tour dates, one
in Munich yesterday and one scheduled for Hamburg today, after a
fight in a Munich nightclub early Sunday morning ended with singer
Liam Gallagher and drummer Alan White in police custody.
Authorities say Gallagher, who lost two teeth in the melee, may
have kicked an officer in the chest, and as a result could face
assault charges. He and White were released from custody yesterday
Witnesses told Munich police that the incident started after
members of the band and its entourage, who were drunk, started
pushing each other, one falling onto a table where other club-goers
were seated. Liam’s brother Noel is not believed to have been
involved in the fight.
The band’s Web site tells a different story, claiming Oasis
“were the victims of an unprovoked attack by a group of youths.”
There is no word when the band will resume its European tour in
support of this year’s Heathen Chemistry, next scheduled
for Dusseldorf December 4th.
