Notorious B.I.G. Autopsy Report Released

After 15 years, the Notorious B.I.G.’s autopsy report has been released, according to the Associated Press. The report shows the rapper, born Christopher Wallace, was shot four times during the drive-by on March 9th, 1997, but was killed by only one bullet that tore through his heart, left lung and colon. No signs of drugs or alcohol were found in his system when he died.

An attorney for Wallace’s family, Perry Sanders Jr., spoke out against Los Angeles police for not arresting anyone for the murder. “I’ve been advised by the homicide detective that was in charge of the investigation and is no longer with the department that the crime has been solved for several years now,” said Sanders. “This was confirmed by at least one other person who is currently on the force, and it is ridiculous that an arrest has not been made for a crime that’s allegedly been solved for several years.”

Last year, the FBI released redacted files on its investigation into the shooting, and a former L.A. police detective published a book that claimed both Wallace and Tupac Shakur’s murders had been solved. A lawsuit against LAPD in 2005 also raised questions if police had suppressed evidence that rogue cops had conspired with Death Row’s Suge Knight to kill Wallace, but that ended in a mistrial.
