NOFX frontman Fat Mike will bring the palm-muted chug of punk to the theater next year when the new musical, Home Street Home, tours the United States and its soundtrack sees release on February 10th via Fat Wreck Chords.

Mike has been working on Home Street Home for years, handling the music while co-writing the piece with Soma Snakeoil and Tony award winner Jeff Marx. Marx, who co-created and composed Avenue Q, has been serving as producer, while Richard Israel will direct the musical.

For the soundtrack, Mike enlisted a number of collaborators from the worlds of punk and Broadway to portray various characters, including Frank Turner, Tony-winning actor Lena Hall (Hedwig and the Angry Inch), Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba, Bad Cop/Bad Cop’s Stacy Dee and Tony Sly, the late frontman of No Use for a Name. The album also features musical contributions from members of NOFX, the Descendants, Lagwagon, Me First and the Gimmie Gimmes, Old Man Markley, Mad Caddies, the Aggrolites, the Living End and the Real McKenzies.

Home Street Home tells the story of a group of runaways who must navigate the perils of street life while trying to find their own place in the world. No word yet, however, on who will comprise the cast of the musical, which in a twist on the traditional Broadway formula, will open after the soundtrack drops. Dates for the ensuing national tour have yet to be announced.

“Ever since I saw Rocky Horror [Picture Show] when I was 8, I’ve been intrigued by musicals,” Mike said in a statement. “Well, not all musicals, just the ones that break the mold. Luckily, I found two people, Jeff Marx and Soma Snakeoil, that love breaking things as much as I do. This is fucking fun!”
