No Doubt Tell Stories Behind Their Biggest Hits in New Video Series

No Doubt continue to reward fans for patiently awaiting their return. The band has been posting videos of Gwen Stefani and Co. reminiscing and telling the stories behind seven of their most popular hits in a series called Seven Days of No Doubt on their YouTube channel and official Website, covering “Just a Girl,” “Spiderwebs,” “New” and “Simple Kind of Life” (watch above). Some fun facts we learned from the videos: The band chose to cover Talk Talk’s “It’s My Life” over INXS’ “Don’t Change” for their Singles 92-03 collection, “Spiderwebs” was about a guy who used to call Stefani late at night and recite poetry and “New” got its name because, well, it sounded “new.”

While we’re slightly disappointed the band didn’t reveal the true story of “Hella Good,” you have to tip your hat to No Doubt for going out of their way to give their fans the reunion they were all anticipating. Not only is the band giving away their entire discography digitally when fans buy tickets to their concerts as Rock Daily reported, they’ve also reserved the best seats in the house for their fan club rather than the secondary-ticket market.

In addition, more details have emerged about No Doubt’s May 11th performance on Gossip Girl, where the band will cover Adam & the Ants’ “Stand and Deliver.” According to EW’s Ausiello Files, No Doubt will perform in an ’80s flashback episode, playing the role of an up-and-coming band in what’s be touted as a “backdoor pilot” for that upcoming GG spin-off show. So that explains the whole “Stand and Deliver” cover. The band will kick off their reunion tour with a May 2nd show at Atlantic City, New Jersey’s Borgata. Click here for the rest of the dates.
