No Doubt-AFI Supergroup Dreamcar Unveil Immersive ‘Kill for Candy’ Video

Band drops innovative first video from upcoming self-titled LP

The supergroup Dreamcar – featuring AFI‘s Davey Havok fronting No Doubt‘s Tony Kanal, Tom Dumont and Adrian Young – have unveiled their new video for “Kill for Candy,” the debut single from the band’s upcoming self-titled LP.

Viewers are given a firsthand account of a day in the life of Dreamcar in the neon-soaked clip, with an “innovative wearable camera” constantly providing different point-of-view shots between the four band members. “Kill for Candy” follows the group as they travel to the video shoot, film the video itself, then grab a bite to eat afterwards.

Dreamcar is due out May 12th. The supergroup will make their live debut Wednesday night in Santa Ana, California before kicking off a spring tour that includes two Coachella gigs. They’ll also play Jimmy Kimmel Live on April 18th and The Late Late Show on May 11th.

In a recent Rolling Stone interview, Kanal talked about the Eighties vibe of the group’s debut LP. “We were teens in the Eighties, and that’s the kind of music that we all grew up on. When you’re in those really formative years, from, like, 13 to 19, what you listen to is so influential, and I think that’s just part of our being now,” Kanal said. “It was never like, ‘Oh, let’s try to do this!’ It’s just the stuff that makes you feel comfortable.”
