Nine Inch Nails, Soundgarden Embarking on Joint Tour

Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden are joining forces for a North American tour this summer. After setting off speculation by releasing similar tour teasers over Instagram last week, the bands made the announcement official late on Saturday.
The tour kicks off on July 19th in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood and wraps up in Los Angeles on August 25th at the Hollywood Bowl. The bands will play 23 dates together, mostly in the U.S. with one stop in Toronto, and Death Grips will be supporting on all but two of the dates.
Where Does Soundgarden’s ‘Superunknown’ Rank Among the 100 Best Albums of the Nineties?
It’s been 20 years since the two bands shared a bill; the last time they performed together was at Ontario’s Molson Park in 1994 in a gig Trent Reznor later described as “a kind of professional showdown.” The bands had each released an album on the same day that year (NIN’s Downward Spiral and Soundgarden’s Superunknown) and Reznor said his band had a chip on their shoulder regarding Soundgarden. Perhaps it’s fitting that the bands are coming together on the anniversary of those landmark albums.
Soundgarden recently played Superunknown in full for the first time ever during the iTunes Festival at SXSW and will release a five-disc 20th anniversary edition of the album on June 3rd. Nine Inch Nails begin a tour of Australia and New Zealand on Monday, followed by a Latin American leg before hitting Europe in May and June.
