Nick Waterhouse On breaking big with a 45 single

Singer financed ‘Someplace’ single on his own

“About a year and a half ago, I cut a 45 called ‘Someplace’ with what little savings I had and pressed it,” California songwriter Nick Waterhouse told Rolling Stone after his set at the Rock Room during SXSW. “I just made a record the way that I wanted to, and I think it really resonated with a lot of people who are interested in rhythm and blues and popcorn stuff.” The singer only got a sense of how well the single was doing when he noticed it selling for hundreds of dollars on eBay.
