Beyoncé‘s new album may finally drop next year, if recent words from Columbia Records chairman Rob Stringer are any indication. He recently outlined the label’s 2014 schedule to Hits Daily Double, saying, “At some point, Beyoncé will put a record out, and when she does, it will be monumental.”

Stringer did not offer further specifics on a release date for the follow-up to Beyoncé’s 2011 record, 4. The pop star seemed to focus elsewhere for much of 2013, spending time teasing new music for her jaw-dropping Super Bowl halftime show and launching her massive world tour.

Beyoncé Working With Justin Timberlake, Pharrell on New Album

Back in March, Beyoncé released “Bow Down/I Been On,” followed by “Standing on the Sun,” which appeared in the H&M summer ad campaign she modeled for. She also dispatched “Grown Woman,” which soundtracked a Pepsi commercial. Just a few weeks ago, Beyoncé released another new cut, “God Made You Beautiful,” a tender ballad for her daughter Blue Ivy Carter that first appeared in the trailer for the DVD of her self-directed HBO documentary, Life Is But a Dream. None of these songs, however, were released as a official singles.

At the beginning of this year, Beyoncé said she was working on a new album with Justin Timberlake, Pharrell, Timbaland and The-Dream. She added that she and her collaborators were trying to recapture the feeling of 1990s R&B and cited Prince, D’Angelo, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross and Sixties doo-wop artists as influences. Over the summer, collaborator Ne-Yo offered something of an update on the record, saying Beyoncé was still chipping away at it: “They’re still trying to figure out what they want that to be, which I’m not mad at,” he said. “Beyoncé’s the kind of artist where you’re not gonna see it till it’s right. And her fans – they love her so they’ll be patient.”
