Guns N’ Roses were full of surprises at this year’s Bridge School Benefit in Mountain View, California. They showed up on time to both nights of the charity show and on the second day, they brought out Neil Young for an acoustic rendition of his 1970 classic “Don’t Let It Bring You Down.”
“I wanna try something that I’ve never tried and I don’t think he’s tried in awhile,” singer Axl Rose told the crowd before the duet. As this clip shows, it’s pretty cool to see Axl and Young sing into a single microphone, even if they aren’t exactly Crosby and Nash on the harmonies (and Young actually played the song regularly on his 2009 tour).
“That’s a song that always gave me some hope through the years,” Rose said at the end. “We asked Neil if we could do it. Thank you.”
Guns N’ Roses kick off their monthlong Las Vegas residency on Halloween. Later in the year, they hit India for a three-city tour.
