Nate Ruess of fun. will release his debut solo album Grand Romantic on June 16th and on Monday, the singer shared another new track off his upcoming LP, “Great Big Storm.” The latest cut follows Ruess’ first single “Nothing Without Love” and his most recent offering “AhHa.”

The track is similar both musically and thematically to “AhHa,” with “Great Big Storm” once again finding Ruess getting his ELO on. The song’s strings recall trademark Jeff Lynne, while Ruess lyrically tackles despair and self-struggle. “I can’t stand myself / And all the curse words that fall from my mouth / I can’t stand myself / Or my legs as they run from the ones here to help,” Ruess sings into a megaphone in the grand finale which, like Grand Romantic‘s other offerings, end up far from where they began musically.

Ruess will hit the road this summer in support of Grand Romantic, which consists of songs he initially penned for fun.’s Some Nights follow-up before deciding the tracks were better suited for a solo release. Although Ruess is readying the release of his solo LP and fun. member Jack Antonoff is working on his Bleachers project, the group has promised fans that they are just on hiatus and have not broken up. “Making records and touring when it’s ‘good for business’ means nothing to us,” the band wrote to fans in February. “We make records and tour when we are inspired to do so.”

Ruess also recently joined Beck to cover Lou Reed’s “Satellite of Love” during the Velvet Underground singer’s posthumous solo induction at the 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony.
