Nas Sued By Concert Promoter Over Canceled Angola Concerts

A New Jersey concert promoter who had arranged for Nas to perform in Angola is suing the rapper for breach of contract, TMZ reports. According to the suit, a local “concert impresario” in Angola took promoter Patrick Allocco and his son hostage at gunpoint in December 2011 after Nas failed to show up for a New Year’s Eve concert, despite taking a $300,000 advance for the show.
Allocco and his son were reportedly taken into custody by Angolan authorities and prohibited from leaving the country until the money was returned. They were finally released in February 2012, after being held for 50 days. Allocco claims that he was beaten and threatened during his detainment and that he suffered psychologically, physically and financially. He filed the $10 million lawsuit against Nas on Friday in Manhattan Federal Court.
