Mystikal Back in Jail for Violating Probation

New Orleans rapper Mystikal has been hit with a three-month jail sentence for violating his probation, MTV News reports. Louisiana State District Judge Tony Marabella slapped Mystikal with the extended jail time over an arrest in February that led to a misdemeanor charge for domestic abuse battery.
With the arrest, the recent Cash Money Records signee violated his five-year probation term that originated from sexual battery and extortion charges in 2003. Mystikal was released from prison in January 2010 after serving a six-year sentence.
Mystikal was set to release his upcoming sixth studio album, Original, on Cash Money Records after signing in December, and the label has expressed their support over their artist’s most recent legal troubles. Repeated run-ins with the law have slowed the artist’s career: Original will be the rapper’s first album in over 10 years, following 2001’s Tarantula.
