When Mumford & Sons were asked to perform a cover at their VH1 Unplugged taping, the English folkies decided to interpret “England,” their favorite song from the National’s album High Violet. “The song obviously sticks out because we’re English,” says Marcus Mumford. “I’m still trying to figure out whether or not it’s actually offensive towards English people, but yeah, we’re making it non-offensive. We’re making it like our ‘Rule, Britannia!’ song today.”
