See Motley Crue at Their Best and Worst in First ‘The Dirt’ Biopic Trailer

Netflix film on the world’s most debaucherous band set to premiere next month

The Mötley Crüe biopic The Dirt is coming to Netflix in March, and they’ve just released the first trailer. In just two and a half minutes, it crams in many of the familiar beats of the saga, including Nikki Sixx’s near-fatal heroin overdose, the car crash that killed Hanoi Rock drummer Nicholas “Razzle” Dingley and sent Vince Neil to jail, Tommy Lee’s tumultuous marriage to Heather Locklear and Mick Mars’ battle with the bone disease ankylosing spondylitis.

It’s also the public’s first glimpse of Machine Gun Kelly’s portrayal of Tommy Lee, Game of Thrones actor Iwan Rheon’s take on Mick Mars, Breaking Bad‘s David Costabile spin on band manager Doc McGhee and SNL’s Pete Davidson’s take on record executive Tom Zutaut. “I had managed the Scorpions, Bon Jovi, Skid Row, Kiss,” Costabile’s McGee says in the trailer, “but I had never been through what Motley Crue put me through.”

If The Dirt sticks to the famous Mötley Crüe book of the same name by Rolling Stone‘s Neil Strauss, expect a truly debauched movie that delves deep into their rise from the early Eighties Sunset Strip metal scene to their days as arena headliners and their epic collapse in the Nineties as bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam made them seem like dinosaurs almost overnight.

But their incredible live show helped revive their career when they reunited in 2005 and kept them playing to huge crowds until their grand farewell a decade later. “If we want to knock people on their asses, we’ve got to give people a show. I’m talking a stadium show in a club,” the Nikki Sixx character says in the trailer. “The fans are dying for some anarchy, so let’s give it to them.”
