Nashville rock outfit Mona are prepped for a blistering summer with the release of Torches and Pitchforks, slated for release on July 23rd. The album is the follow-up to their 2011 debut , Mona, and was self-produced and mixed by Mark Needham (the Killers, Imagine Dragons).
Now you can get a taste of the band’s ragged rock jams with the new video for “Goons.” The clip opens with Frank Sinatra’s less-than-favorable assessment of rock & roll during a late 1950s congressional hearing on the music’s effect on juvenile delinquency: “It is sung, played and written, for the most part, by cretinous goons,” Sinatra declared. Mona proceed to shove Ol’ Blue Eyes’ words in his face with a raucous, joyous basement performance of their aptly titled howl-along cut.
The band hits the road July 9th on a tour that includes a handful of dates opening for Silversun Pickups. See their itinerary here.
