Miley Cyrus Sings ‘Yoshimi’ with the Flaming Lips in L.A.
Miley Cyrus has been using her Bangerz world tour to showcase a few well-chosen covers, with renditions of Outkast’s “Hey Ya” and Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” making regular appearances in her set. Cyrus took the cover business to a whole new level during her show at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Saturday night, when Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd of the Flaming Lips joined her onstage to perform “Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots Part 1.”

Saturday night’s concert happened to fall on the anniversary of the Flaming Lips’ very first show at Oklahoma City’s Blue Note Lounge in 1983. “I’m so fucking excited,” Cyrus told the crowd, according to Consequence of Sound. “I don’t think you guys understand what this means right now. Fuck yes!”
Cyrus has made no secret of her adoration for the Flaming Lips, and Wayne Coyne returned the love in a recent interview with Rolling Stone. “I like her aesthetic more than a Lady Gaga, who this year to me feels like, ‘Take me serious’ and Miley’s like, ‘I don’t give a fuck,’ which to me is always a lot more fun,” he said. “I really like that thing where the people are inside the rainbow and they walk around. I just like that sort of stuff.”
The night’s other notable guest appearance happened during “Adore You,” when Cyrus climbed into the audient to plant a kiss on Katy Perry, who was watching the show from the front row. “I just kissed a girl and I really liked it a lot,” she declared to the crowd, according to Billboard.
