Michael Jackson Burial Scheduled For August 29th at Forest Lawn

Michael Jackson will finally be laid to rest on Saturday, August 29th, a spokesperson for the family revealed today. August 29th would have marked Jackson’s 51st birthday. According to a news release sent out by the Jackson family, the burial will take place at the Glendale Forest Lawn Memorial Park’s Great Mausoleum at 10 a.m. PST. The service will only be open to close friends and family. Michael’s father Joe Jackson previously hinted at a birthday burial for Michael, whose funeral has been delayed by multiple autopsies. In a statement, the Jackson family also said they “wish to express its gratitude to Michael’s fans around the world for their support during these difficult times.”

In other Jackson news, although the results of the toxicology report remains sealed, the lawyer for Michael’s mother Katherine Jackson says that the family is considering a wrongful death lawsuit against Dr. Conrad Murray, pending the results of the investigation into Michael Jackson’s death, People reports. Murray has been the focus of the police’s investigation, as Rock Daily previously reported; authorities believe Murray administered the powerful sedative Propofol to Jackson within 24 hours of the King of Pop’s death. Additionally, reports state that Murray left Jackson unsupervised after administering Propofol to make phone calls.

Finally, a deal approving the sale of Michael Jackson merchandise was accepted yesterday by a Los Angeles court. The deal, between the co-executors of the Michael Jackson Estate and Bravado International Group Merchandising Services, allows for the production of Jackson-branded books, trading cards, online games and much more, the Los Angeles Times reports. The deal is expected to infuse $15 million into the Jackson estate. However, the judge presiding over the case of Jackson’s estate postponed a ruling on a three-city tour of Jackson memorabilia after Katherine Jackson argued AEG Live, who was staging Jackson’s This Is It tour, was receiving too much profits from the tour.
