McCartney Weds in Ireland

Ringo, George Martin among attendees at today’s ceremony

Paul McCartney married Heather Mills today at a castle in rural
Glaslough, Ireland. The marriage is the second for both the
fifty-nine-year-old former Beatle, whose wife of twenty-nine years
Linda died in 1998, and Mills, a thirty-four-year-old former model.

The ceremony took place at 4:00 p.m. Greenwich Mean Time (11:00
a.m. ET), and bells ringing inside the Protestant chapel on the
castle grounds at 5:20 announced that vows had been exchanged.

The couple met in 1999 at a charity function hosted by Mills,
who lost a leg in a motorcycle accident and now raises money for
children disabled in war, and became engaged in 2001.

Three hundred family members and friends — including fellow
former Beatle Ringo Starr, the band’s producer Sir George Martin,
Eric Clapton, Elton John and David Gilmour — attended the
nuptials.
