Matthew E. White shows his range on his new EP, Outer Face, a five-track collection the singer and songwriter recorded at his Spacebomb Records studio in Richmond, Virginia. White worked with his touring bandmates on the EP, and the camaraderie helped make the album feel cohesive, with a stripped-down sound that boasts a few psychedelic twists.

The 26 Albums You Need to Hear This Fall

"It's kinda a gentleman's psychedelia, a strange, exotic minimalism without many luxuries that was written in the middle of a wild year, in the van, in a week off here and a hotel room there," White tells Rolling Stone

Songs like "Hot Hot Hot" are filled with fuzzy guitar, rich strings and repetitive lyrics that make for a sense of motion throughout the track.

Outer Face is due out on October 22nd as part of Big Inner: Outer Face Edition, an expanded version of White's 2012 release Big Inner, and is available for pre-order here.
