Mark Wahlberg has some advice for Justin Bieber. In a live web chat with The Sun, the actor – and former frontman of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch – offered some words of wisdom to the 19-year-old singer, who has had a turbulent 2013.
“Justin, are you listening? Don’t be so naughty, yeah,” Wahlberg said, putting on a fake British accent, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Be a nice boy, pull your trousers up, make your mum proud, yeah? Stop smoking all that weed, you little bastard.”
Wahlberg then laughed, ditched the accent and got a little more serious, reflecting on how things have changed since he was a young rising music star. “He’s a kid! Let him live his life,” Wahlberg said. “He’s a teenager, obviously living in a different day and age. Everybody’s got a cell phone and paparazzi everywhere. I was in prison before I got a record out and I don’t think he’s been to prison. I don’t think he wants to go.”
He continued with some direct, strict advice. “This career can be short-lived,” Wahlberg said. “You might as well be the best you can while you’re doing it, while you’re in the game. And after, if you want to go ‘F’ off, do that.”
Bieber has had an eventful year, to say the least. U.S. border authorities in Detroit, Michigan found marijuana on his tour bus late last month, though Bieber was not on board at the time. In April, drugs and a stun gun were discovered on Bieber’s bus after Swedish police raided the vehicle, but no arrests were made. Paparazzi also caught a photo of the singer smoking pot in January.
Weed hasn’t been Bieber’s only issue. He apologized to Bill Clinton last month after dissing him in a video, which also featured him pissing into a mop bucket in a nightclub’s kitchen. Bieber was sued in June by a paparazzi who claims the singer punched and kicked him last year. Bieber also abandoned his pet monkey, Malley, in Germany after the creature was confiscated due to improper paperwork, and wrote in the Anne Frank House museum’s guestbook that he hoped the teen Halocaust victim “would have been a belieber.”
Meanwhile, Wahlberg’s latest film, 2 Guns, opened last week and also stars Denzel Washington. He’s also currently shooting Transformers 4.
