Madonna to Launch World Tour

Pop singer will play “American Life” and the hits

Madonna has started rehearsals for her first world tour in three years. The Re-Invention Tour comes in support of her chart-topping 2003 release American Life, though Madonna promises a career-spanning set list.

“She can’t wait to get back on stage to recreate her songs from the earliest days of her career up until the present,” manager Caresse Henry said. “This tour will be the pinnacle of her long-standing reputation as one of the most exciting live performers of our time.”

The tour is scheduled to launch on May 24th in Los Angeles, and right now the U.S. dates are scheduled to run thirteen dates through August 1st in Miami, though Madonna’s site promises additional stops. On August 18th, she’ll take the Re-Invention Tour to the U.K. for a London show. The only other European stop currently scheduled is September 1st in Paris. Fan club members will get first crack at tickets; information on joining is available at

The tour is Madonna’s first since she plugged Music on the Drowned World Tour in the summer of 2001. That outing ended an eight-year break from the stage. Early demand for tickets forced Madonna to add extra nights to most of her American stops, en route to grossing more than $70 million.

In other Madonna news, her third children’s book, Lotsa de Casha, is scheduled for publication in June.
