Madonna Swears at Smokers in Chilean Crowd

Madonna enforced her own smoking ban in Chile earlier this week, storming off stage in Santiago after berating a small crowd allowed to watch her soundcheck for smoking cigarettes near her, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The singer was performing “Human Nature” Wednesday in the midst of a rain shower when her white umbrella turned inside out, drawing a laugh from the crowd. Peeved, Madonna stopped the performance to single out the smokers.

“There are people smoking right now,” she said. “No smoking. If you’re going to smoke cigarettes, I’m not doing a show. You don’t care about me, I don’t care about you. All right? Are we going to play that game? I’m not kidding. I can’t sing if you smoke.”
After asking the crowd in Spanish, “Entiendes?” she continued, “You’re looking right at me and smoking cigarettes, like I’m a stupid fucking idiot,” then left the stage.
Madonna’s ongoing MDNA Tour was the top-earning tour of 2012, and came with no shortage of controversy as she tangled with authorities and fans. She supported imprisoned punks Pussy Riot and advocated for gay rights at concerts in Russia, superimposed a swastika on a picture of a right-wing politician in France, showed footage of the Warsaw Uprising in Poland, described President Obama as a “black Muslim” in Washington D.C. and kept fans waiting for more than three hours in Miami before she performed.
