Mac Miller Details New LP, Plays Moon in Wacky ‘100 Grandkids’ Video

Rapper announces new shows following release of upcoming album, ‘GO:OD AM,’ out in September

Mac Miller displays his verbal dexterity and quirky creativity in “100 Grandkids,” a track from his upcoming third LP, GO:OD AM, out September 18th via Warner Bros. Records/REMember Music. “Made a promise to my mama that I’d bless her with some grandkids / She could spoil ’em,” the 23-year-old Pittsburgh native raps on the dizzying track. “Til then, I’m gettin’ dollars, just doin’ what I gotta.”

The Nick Walker-directed video for “100 Grandkids” finds a crew of children in animal costumes performing a surreal play, as Miller hovers above as the Man in the Moon. The rapper tosses off several  noteworthy boasts, including, “I swear to God, I put the ‘hero’ in heroin” and “I could sell snow to a ski slope,” over a textured beat built on mournful brass and funky guitar riffs. The beat turns grittier midway through, as Miller plays on the title pun by talking dollars. “Tell me what you wanna be, what your dreams is,” he raps in a parking lot, his ride bouncing with hydraulics. “100 Gs in my jeans; I’m a genius.”

GO:OD AM is available for pre-order on iTunes and Miller’s website, with buyers receiving an instant download of “100 Grandkids.” The rapper has also prepped a “Breakfast Special Edition” of the LP packaged in a cereal box, which includes “one single serving of GO:OD AM cereal,” a “GO:OD AM plastic cereal bowl” and a “GO:OD AM surprise item,” along with a CD, MP3 version and download of “100 Grandkids.”

The album follows Miller’s 2014 mixtape, Faces, which made Rolling Stone‘s list of the year’s 40 Best Rap Albums. We called the set “his most blunted album yet, a 24-track inventory of drugs, snacks, Will Ferrell quotes and punchlines absentmindedly mashed into his iPhone.”

Miller has also announced a handful of new post-release shows below.
