Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige Team for “SOS” Haiti Special
Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Diddy and Pharrell Williams are teaming up for the “SOS Save OurSelves — Help For Haiti” special, which airs live this Friday, February 5th on BET, MTV and VH1. Wyclef Jean, Mary J. Blige, Justin Bieber and Monica will also take part in the Miami concert, which will raise money for CARE, Project Medishare, Yele Haiti and Children’s Safe Drinking Water, the BBC reports. Queen Latifah will host the event, the second major telethon to help raise money for earthquake-ravaged Haiti. The concert may mark the final performance from Lil Wayne for quite a while — the rapper is scheduled to be sentenced on gun charges in New York on February 9th.
As Rolling Stone previously reported, the Hope for Haiti Now special helped raise over $61 million, and its digital album brought in an additional $3 million and topped last week’s Billboard 200 chart.
The Hope for Haiti Now concert also featured performances by Blige and Jean, with both took part in the Grammys’ own tribute to Haiti at last night’s ceremony.
