Leonardo DiCaprio, ‘Stranger Things’ Cast Headline South by South Lawn Fest

President Obama announced an impressive lineup for his one-day South by South Lawn (SXSL) festival on October 3rd. Leonardo DiCaprio, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, the Lumineers, DJ Beverly Bond and the cast and creators of Netflix hit series Stranger Things will descend on the White House, said the Hollywood Reporter.
The event, co-created by the organizers of the South By Southwest festival, will mirror its Interactive, Film and Music components through panel discussions, short student films and live performances. In March, President Barack and Michelle Obama visited the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, where they spoke about topics including education, civic engagement, creative thinking and entrepreneurship. The new fest “[celebrates] that spirit of innovation.”
At the 2016 SXSW, President Obama joined The Texas Tribune editor-in-chief Evan Smith as part of the Keynote Conversation at SXSW Interactive. Michelle Obama delivered the keynote address at SXSW Music, promoting her Let Girls Learn initiative. Queen Latifah served as moderator on the keynote panel, which also included Diane Warren, Missy Elliot and actress Sophia Bush.
