Lana Del Rey Purrs Through ‘Video Games’ Live – Premiere

Singer slows down her hit even more at the Breakthrough science awards

Lana Del Rey is having a busy awards season. The pop songstress is up for several Grammy awards this year and she recently performed at another awards show, the Breakthrough Prize, which honors scientists who have made major developments in our understanding of the world. The ceremony airs on Monday, January 27th at 9 p.m. on the Science Channel.

Who’s Tanking Lana Del Rey’s Oscar Bid?

Rolling Stone has an exclusive preview of her Breakthrough performance, in which she sang a slowed-down rendition of her hit song “Video Games.” In the clip, Del Rey croons over a heavy piano and strings backing, with a little flair added courtesy of an electric guitar.

Del Rey announced at the end of last year that she’s working on the follow-up to her 2012 debut album, Born to Die, and her Grammy-nominated 2012 EP, Paradise. She hasn’t let out many details about her second full-length, other than its title: Ultra-Violence. However, she did recently show off a new persona in her biblically-derived short film Tropico, which found John Wayne, Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe kicking it in the Garden of Eden. The near-30-minute visual feast contains the tracks “Body Electric,” “Gods and Monsters,” and “Bel Air” from her Born to Die – Paradise Edition.
