Lady Gaga Teases R. Kelly Collaboration ‘Do What U Want’
Such a tease: Lady Gaga offers just a taste of “Do What U Want,” a new song featuring R. Kelly, in a 30-second Best Buy ad for Beats by Dre headphones that went public last night. The snippet of the song, from Gaga’s forthcoming ARTPOP album, finds the singer and Kelly trading lyrics over a smooth, propulsive backbeat.
‘ARTPOP’ and 25 More Must-Hear Albums This Fall
It’s the latest glimpse of what’s in store on ARTPOP, which is due out on November 11th. Gaga released “Applause,” the first single, over the summer, and performed the song in August at the MTV Video Music Awards. Two weeks ago, a trailer for Machete Kills (in which Gaga plays La Chameleón) featured part of another new song, “Aura,” and earlier this week Gaga previewed 11 seconds of “G.U.Y. (Girl Under You).” The singer’s label has promised three new songs over the next three weeks “to highlight Gaga’s creative and musical evolution.”
Gaga answered questions from fans on Twitter Sunday night, and elaborated ever so slightly in a tweet she posted yesterday. “FUN FACT about ARTPOP: I sang the songs over and over until they transformed into a part of me. Then we pressed record,” she wrote. Gaga continued, “Each song on ARTPOP was inspired by different types of adrenalin, so it’s an expression of the various rushes. I want you to feel them.”
