Lady Gaga Releases ‘Do What U Want’ With R. Kelly
After Lady Gaga last week teased a snippet of her new song with R. Kelly, “Do What U Want,” in a TV commercial, the singer tweeted a link to the full track early this morning. It’s part of Gaga’s promise to release a new song every week between now and November 11th, when her latest album ARTPOP goes on sale.
“Do What U Want,” produced by Gaga and Paul “DJ White Shadow” Blair, frames Gaga’s voice with a muscular club beat as she sings, “You can’t stop my voice / ‘Cause you don’t own my life / But do what you want with my body.” Kelly sounds agreeable to that proposition, declaring, “I could be your pusha man” as he describes a luxurious, if highly scheduled, life in which he still finds time for sexy recreation.
‘ARTPOP’ and 25 More Must-Hear Albums This Fall
The song first appeared in a 30-second Best Buy ad for Beats by Dre headphones, filling in the blank for one of the 15 songs on ARTPOP. Gaga had already released “Applause,” which she performed at the MTV Video Music Awards in August, and previewed “Aura” in a trailer for Machete Kills, in which Gaga appears as La Chameleón.
“Each song on ARTPOP was inspired by different types of adrenalin, so it’s an expression of the various rushes,” Gaga said last week on Twitter. “I want you to feel them.”
The collaboration with Kelly came as the R&B singer pushed back the release date for his own new album, Black Panties, which has been delayed a month to December 10th while Kelly makes last-minute tweaks in the mastering process.
