In an interview with Rolling Stone before the album came out in September, the group’s drummer, Nathan Followill, said that following a meltdown, the band had regrouped and were sounding better than ever. “It was how we sounded when we started playing as a band, excited to plug in,” he said.
The group has gotten used to playing together live again, too, following the release of the album. They played the Mechanical Bull tracks “Temple” on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and “Beautiful War,” as well as a cover of Robyn’s “Dancing on My Own,” on BBC1. And they played what frontman Caleb Followill called, “one of my favorite shows in a long time” at Chicago’s House of Blues in early October. The group’s next scheduled concert is an appearance at the Life Is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas on October 26th.
