Kim Gordon Forms Glitterbust, Announces Debut Album

Sonic Youth‘s Kim Gordon has teamed with Tomorrows Tulips’ Alex Knost for a new project called Glitterbust, with the duo’s self-titled debut LP due out March 4th on Burger Records. Glitterbust also unleashed the album’s “The Highline,” a nine-minute guitar odyssey that finds Gordon coolly singing over the droning riffs.
Glitterbust is available on double-black vinyl, double-clear vinyl and a cassette through Burger. The side project marks Gordon’s first release since her Body/Head outfit dropped Coming Apart in 2013. However, the bassist did collaborate with Peaches and J. Mascis and published her memoir Girl in a Band in 2015.
“I was like, I want to write a book like Bob Dylan’s Chronicles and just make stuff up,” Gordon told Rolling Stone of her book. “I decided not to try and research and include everything. I didn’t wanna overthink what I was gonna do. I know someone will one day write a good Sonic Youth book, but at the outset I said, ‘This is not that.'”
