Booker T. and the MGs, Duane Eddy, the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section and Buddy Holly’s band the Crickets were all inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame at a ceremony last night in Nashville. Keith Richards and Kid Rock were both on hand to help welcome in the new inductees. Richards introduced the Crickets, saying if it weren’t for the band “you probably wouldn’t have the Beatles, and you wouldn’t have the Stones.” Richards later joined the Crickets on stage for a performance of Holly’s “Not Fade Away,” which the Rolling Stones covered in 1964. Kid Rock teamed up with the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Club for a cover of Bob Seger’s “Old Time Rock and Roll,” while American Idol contestant Melissa Doolittle joined the Alabama collective on Aretha Franklin’s “Respect.” Also inducted in the Musicians Hall were the Memphis Horns and producers Al Kooper and Billy Sherrill.
