Kevin Hart’s ‘Chocolate Droppa’ Alter Ego Recruits T.I., Migos for ‘Baller Alert’

Kevin Hart and his rapper alter ego “Chocolate Droppa” alias signed a record deal with Motown in August, and on Monday the comedian unexpectedly returned to his music side project with “Baller Alert,” featuring T.I. and Migos.

The Atlanta rappers handle the majority of the lyrical heavy lifting on the Lex Luger-produced track, with Chocolate Droppa appearing at the end to question whether the signature chirp noise that keeps popping up in the beat is an alarm or a bird call. “I’m just looking for clarity on my side,” Hart says of the noise.

“Baller Alert” is the first track off the What Now? (The Mixtape) that Chocolate Droppa is hosting and releasing on October 14th; Hart’s stand-up comedy film What Now?, recorded at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field, arrives on the same day.

Hart recently spoke to E! News about the origins of his alias. “You know, people ask me every day, ‘Where did Droppa come from? Where did the name Chocolate Droppa originate from?’ When I was a kid, I loved Milk Duds. Eat ‘em by the pound,” Hart said. “And one day them Duds got to my stomach. Had to make an emergency stop at the bathroom, and, ya know, I dropped off a bunch of little duds.”

“One of my friends saw it. He was like, ‘Aw man, you got a little chocolate droppa in there.’ And that stuck, from that day on, they called me Chocolate Drop. And then it eventually shifted to Chocolate Droppa. I don’t eat Milk Duds no more because they mess up my stomach.”
