Kelly Osbourne Talks About Ozzy Osbourne’s Relapse

Kelly Osbourne has opened up on her father Ozzy Osbourne’s drug and alcohol use, as well as her own experiences with staying sober. “I love and respect that he’s honest enough to say, ‘Yes, I did this. It was my fault,'” Osbourne told Cosmopolitan. “He’s a real man. Most people would hide, and he doesn’t. It doesn’t make me love him any less.”
Ozzy Osbourne last month acknowledged that he had been drinking and taking drugs for the preceding 18 months, saying, “I was in a very dark place and was an asshole to the people I love most, my family.” The announcement helped fuel rumors that he was splitting with wife Sharon Osbourne, but she has stood by her husband and talked about the experience herself.

Kelly Osbourne said the family has come to accept that her father struggles with addiction.”It took a long time to get to that place, but I understand it now. And my mother does too,” she said. “We had a TV show about this. Now people are trying to act like it’s a new story.”
Kelly Osbourne also touched on her own relationship with sobriety. “[Ozzy’s] an addict; I’m an addict. It’s going to be one of those things we battle for the rest of our lives,” she said. “I take the necessary precautions. If you’re not happy and healthy, it’s not worth any of it. Everyone says sex, drugs, and rock and roll are fun. It ain’t fun. It is not something to glorify.”
Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath are readying a June 11th release for their new album, 13, their first with Ozzy Osbourne on vocals since 1978’s Never Say Die!. They’ll also hit the road for a North American tour in July.
