Katy Perry and Juicy J Walk Like Egyptians in ‘Dark Horse’ Video

Katy Perry and Juicy J turned the Grammy stage into a haunted forest when they performed “Dark Horse” at this year’s awards, but the two went in a totally different direction in the outrageous new video for the single off her latest album, Prism. Set in Memphis, Egypt (a nod to Juicy J’s hometown of Memphis, Tennessee) “a crazy long time ago,” the clip finds Perry reigning over her subjects as an goddess queen in a bizarro, candy-coated, half-digitally rendered universe; a place where servants have cat heads and wear the finest jewels and freshest sneakers.

Sitting on her throne, various visitors offer Perry the riches of the world, though nothing pleases her. She uses a giant diamond to reduce its giver into a grill for her teeth, while another is liquefied as punishment for offering Perry too-hot Hot Cheetos and not having anything to quench her thirst (the same man also gives her a pyramid of Twinkies, which we’d definitely like to get our hands on).

Juicy J pops out of a sarcophagus and into an ancient Egyptian strip club, and things get super weird. Perry gets a chariot with a bumping hydraulic lift kit, plus some sweet gold dice for the rear-view; an adorable Pomeranian puppy shows up and scurries away because (for some inexplicable reason) it horrifies everyone; and lastly Perry is given the gift she’s been waiting for: a gigantic pyramid to ascend. And as for the fate of the presenter of this treasure? He’s dissolved into a man-dog that’s definitely not as cute as the Pom.
