Karen O, Blake Mills, Kaki King Set for D’Addario Foundation Benefit Concert

Historic instrument company D’Addario announced plans to host a benefit show in Brooklyn, New York on September 22nd. The event, Music Makes You, provided by charity arm the D’Addario Foundation, will donate funds to music education programs serving underprivileged children.
A slew of renowned artists have already signed onto the bill. Blake Mills — a triple-threat guitarist (Norah Jones, Kid Rock), producer (Alabama Shakes’ Sound & Color) and solo artist — will lead the house band. Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O and guitarist Nick Zinner will perform, as well as Kaki King, Marc Ribot, Lucius and more. Comedian Seth Herzog will host the event at BRIC Arts and Media Space in Brooklyn, New York.
Jim and Janet D’Addario founded the D’Addario Foundation for the Performing Arts in 1981. “We wanted to broaden our commitment,” Jim said in a statement. “We decided it would be a good time to create a foundation so that we can expand into more cities and also support other programs.”
D’Addario distributes 10 percent of its annual profits to music education programs. “Through a disciplined application and vetting process we annually support 200 of the best private sector not-for-profit organizations worldwide on the frontline of the battle to improve access to music education,” he said.
Tickets for Music Makes You are currently available via the event’s website.
