Kanye West’s ‘Yeezus’ Tour Rises Again

Kanye West fans and Americans at large may not want to live next door to the rapper and his fiancée, but that’s not stopping him from visiting them. West has extended his Yeezus tour with nine February dates that focus on the East Coast and Canada. A press release said it would be the last chance for North American fans to see West’s “creative concept” in support of one of the 20 Best Hip-Hop Albums of 2013. Tickets will be available to the general public on Friday, though Live Nation is holding a credit card–sponsored presale beginning tomorrow.
Where Did Kanye West’s ‘Yeezus’ Rank Among the 50 Best Albums of 2013?
The Yeezus tour ranked Number Two, trailing Paul McCartney, on Billboard’s Hot Tours list last year. In December, the magazine reported that between October and December West’s tour grossed $25.2 million, including $3 million alone from two shows at Madison Square Garden.
West kicked off the Yeezus tour on October 19th, and the show made headlines for featuring a man playing Jesus. Although he canceled and postponed some tour dates in November, due to damaged gear that was “central to the staging of the Yeezus tour and central to the creative vision put forth by Kanye West and his design team,” he resumed the tour with what Rolling Stone described as a “fiery, confident performance” in Philadelphia. Since then, West completed his tour and said he had begun working on his Yeezus follow-up, which he says will consist of eight songs.
