Kanye West, Kings of Leon Set to Headline Budweiser Made in America
Kanye West and Kings of Leon will headline this year’s Budweiser Made in America Festival at Philadelphia’s Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Curated by Jay Z, the festival will go bi-coastal this year, with a Los Angeles event occuring for the first time. Both festivals will run simultaneously over Labor Day Weekend, from August 30th – 31st.

As in past years, the festival boasts a typically diverse lineup of indie rock, funk, soul, hip-hop and EDM. While the Los Angeles lineup has yet to be announced, the Philadelphia roster includes Pharrell, J. Cole, Girl Talk, Spoon, De La Soul, Danny Brown, Chromeo, The National, Tiesto, Grimes, DJ Cassidy, Holy Ghost, YG, The Neighborhood, Kongos, AWOLNation, and Mayer Hawthorne. Each city will house three stages, with last year’s headliners including Beyoncé, Nine Inch Nails, Deadmau5 and Queens of the Stone Age.
Meanwhile, John Mayer and Imagine Dragons will headline the inaugural Los Angeles festival, set to take place in Grand Park. Kendrick Lamar, Weezer, Juanes, Steve Aoki, Afrojack and Rise Against lead off the rest of the equally varied linup, which also includes Sublime with Rome, Metric, Schoolboy Q, Capital Cities, Cypress Hill, Chance the Rapper, R3HAB, Borgore, YG, Dr. Dog, Rita Ora, ZZ Ward, Nipsey Hussle, Classix, Hit-Boy, DJ Mustard, Ab-Soul, Isaiah Rashad, Jay Rock, SZA, Mute Math and Wolfgang Gartner, among others.
Entering its third year, Made in America has made a notable splash in the summer festival circuit, with ticket sales reaching 120,000 in 2013 – a 50% increase from its inaugural year, according to Billboard. The move to Los Angeles was seen as an economic lift to the city that “will inject millions of dollars into the LA Economy,” according to mayor Eric Garcetti. While NBC Los Angeles reported that Councilman Jose Huizar, the representative of the downtown area where the festival will be held, has raised safety concerns over the number of attendees and proper street closures surrounding Grand Park, the event is scheduled to proceed as normal.
