Kanye West Drops Non-‘Pablo’ Song ’30 Hours,’ Adds to Album Track List
With Kanye West fans anxiously awaiting the official arrival of the rapper’s new album The Life of Pablo following Thursday’s Madison Square Garden debut, West instead threw another curveball: A new track titled “30 Hours,” the latest installment in the rapper’s series of Friday drops. “Now that the album is finally finished it’s back to Good Fridays,” the rapper tweeted.
The track, which revolves around a sample of Arthur Russell’s World of Echo cut “Answers Me,” finds West reminiscing about a 30-hour journey to visit a woman. “You had me driving far enough to switch the time zones / You were the best of all time at the time though,” West says. “You wasn’t mine though / But I still drove 30 hours.”
In a follow-up tweet, West revealed that “30 Hours” was a last-minute, pre-mastering addition to The Life of Pablo as that album’s tracklist ballooned from the 10 songs West premiered at the Yeezy Season Three launch to 17 in total. Other new additions include “Silver Surfer Intermission,” “I Miss the Old Kanye,” a new version of “Facts” and the re-inclusion of “No More Parties in L.A.” featuring Kendrick Lamar. The song “Father Stretch My Hands” was split into two tracks, and Pablo‘s “High Lights” was also given a contrasting and adjacent “Low Lights.”

Meanwhile, West continues to take heat over his controversial lyric in “Famous” where he says of Taylor Swift, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / I made that bitch famous.” The lyric was called “misogynistic” by Swift’s rep, although West later claimed that the singer not only approved the line, she authored it.
