The battle over Kanye West‘s controversial “Famous” lyric wages on: After Taylor Swift‘s rep issued a statement denying that the singer approved of West’s “misogynistic” line, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / I made that bitch famous,” the rapper unleashed a Twitter tirade Friday morning that refuted the representative’s claims as well as downplayed the lyric itself.
“I did not diss Taylor Swift and I’ve never dissed her…,” West tweeted, the first in a series of 15 tweets sent over seven minutes. “First thing is I’m an artist and as an artist I will express how I feel with no censorship. 2nd thing I asked my wife for her blessings and she was cool with it.”
West then denied that his conversation with Swift about “Famous” was nothing more than a request for her to promote the single on her social media accounts. “3rd thing I called Taylor and had a hour-long convo with her about the line and she thought it was funny and gave her blessings,” West tweeted.
“4th Bitch is an endearing term in hip hop like the word Nigga. 5th thing I’m not even gone take credit for the idea… it’s actually something Taylor came up with… She was having dinner with one of our friends who’s name I will keep out of this and she told him. I can’t be mad at Kanye because he made me famous! #FACTS.”

Later, West blamed the media for spinning the “Famous” lyric into more than it is. “6th Stop trying to demonize real artist Stop trying to compromise art,” West wrote. “That’s why music is so fucking watered down right now. I miss that DMX feeling. 7th I miss that feeling so that’s what I want to help restore.”
The rapper also compared his The Life of Pablo live-stream event at Madison Square Garden to the opening scene from the 1979 film The Warriors.
