John Butler Trio Explore ‘Destruction’ in ‘Young and Wild’ – Premiere
In this video for “Young and Wild,” John Butler performs a solo acoustic version of this solemn song, which comes from the John Butler Trio’s latest album Flesh and Blood. It’s a reflective, stripped-down rendition that clocks in at nearly seven minutes, with the video showing close-ups of Butler’s guitar prowess as well as his studio, “The Compound.”

While the title “Young and Wild” might suggest moments of happiness, it’s actually a rather dark number. “It’s about a destructive couple in the throws of addiction,” Butler tells Rolling Stone. “One of those relationships that when the drugs are gone, so is the relationship.”
The John Butler Trio are currently on tour in North America and recently announced several more shows this summer. They’ll be playing at Morrison, Colorado on June 6th, the Crossroads Festival in Kansas City, Missouri on June 7th and New York’s Central Park Summerstage on June 17th.
