Jimi Hendrix’s Remains Moved
New memorial built for legendary rocker
Jimi Hendrix’s remains have been moved from his plot at Renton, Washington’s Greenwood Memorial Park Cemetery and they will be relocated to a new memorial. The memorial, nearing completion at the same cemetary, will feature a thirty-foot-high granite dome with columns trimmed in “rainbow” marble and a life-size bronze sculpture of Hendrix.
The remains of Hendrix’s father, Al Hendrix, who died last April, and his wife Ayako Hendrix are already located in the memorial and the remains of Hendrix’s grandmother, Nora, will be placed there as well. Hendrix’s initial burial site — marked by a simple gravestone reading: Forever in Our Hearts — has been a tourist attraction since he died in 1970.
