A California musician has sued Jessie J and Universal Music Group for copyright infringement, according to Billboard. Will Loomis, who alleges the pop star stole large parts of his work for her hit single “Domino,” has named Jessie J, Universal Music Group, Lava Records and Universal Republic Records as defendants in the lawsuit. Loomis’ case centers on his 2008 song “Bright Red Chords,” which he claims was lifted for “Domino,” released in August 2011.
“Mr. Loomis never consented to the use of his song and we look forward to obtaining an appropriate remedy from the court for this clear infringement,” said his lawyer, Chris Arledge, in a statement.
“Domino” has spent 24 weeks on Billboard‘s Hot 100, peaking at Number 6 on the chart.
