Jermaine Jackson: Mother Katherine is ‘Safe and Well’

Katherine Jackson, mother of the late King of Pop Michael Jackson, is not missing, according to her son Jermaine Jackson. He says she is resting with family in Arizona on “doctor’s advice,” as Reuters reports.
Relatives reported Jackson, 82, missing on Saturday, with granddaughter and Michael’s daughter Paris writing on Twitter, “yes, my grandmother is missing. i haven’t spoken with her in a week i want her home now.”
Lawyer Sandra L. Ribera told Reuters in an e-mail that the missing persons report she filed was “out of concern for Mrs. Jackson’s well-being and in an effort to ensure her being safely reunited with her grandchildren as soon as possible.”
Jermaine Jackson, however, took to Twitter yesterday to put an end to the rumors, saying Katherine was “safe and well,” resting with her daughter Rebbie in Arizona. He noted he was not sure how or where the reports originated and added, “It dismays me that such an alarmist ‘missing person’ report has caused unnecessary anxiety among Michael’s children who will understandably react to what they misunderstand, hear or are told.”
Jermaine also noted that no one was being “blocked” from speaking with Katherine, referring to earlier claims from Ribera that Paris was told Katherine was unavailable when she attempted to call Rebbie or sister Janet.
“She is merely an 82-year-old woman following doctor’s orders to rest up and de-stress, away from phones and computers,” Jermaine’s tweet read. “Everyone has been well aware of this within the family, but I would like to reiterate my reassurance to the outside world that Mother is fine.”
Last week five Jackson siblings sent a letter to John Branca and John McClain, the executors of Michael Jackson’s estate, accusing them of fraud and referring to a “conspiracy surrounding our brother’s estate.” The letter also said the executors were abusing Katherine through lies and manipulations and that she had recently suffered a “mini-stroke.”
Those health rumors were also refuted, however, by Paris, who tweeted at the time, “i am going to clarify right now that what has been said about my grandmother is a rumor and nothing has happened, she is completely fine.” That tweet has since been deleted.
