Jenny Lewis’ first offering off The Voyager, the former Rilo Kiley frontwoman’s first solo album in six years, is a breezy, catchy single about not fitting in with the boys’ club. Produced by Beck and titled “Just One of the Guys,” the wistful track, which she posted to iTunes, finds Lewis singing over a heavily textured and echoey backdrop of acoustic guitars, keyboards and something akin to a mandolin, but it’s her lyrics, full of ennui about her ticking biological clock, and the way she leans into the words that draws a line back to Lewis’ previous recordings.

In addition to Beck, Lewis collaborated with a number of other notable producers, including Ryan Adams and Johnathan Rice, for The Voyager, her third solo album overall, which is due out July 29th. She has said that the album is personal in nature – “the hardest one I ever made,” in her words – and comes on the heels of a creative meltdown following the dissolution of Rilo Kiley. “It nearly destroyed me,” she said in a statement. “I had such severe insomnia that, at one point, I didn’t sleep for five straight nights. Many of the songs on The Voyager came out of the need to occupy my mind in the moments when I just couldn’t shut down.”

In lighter news, Lewis recently backed up comedian Zach Galifianakis recently on a rendition of “Camptown Races.” It will air on IFC’s Comedy Bang! Bang! on June 5th, according to Vulture.
