Jennifer Hudson will guest star on NBC’s musical drama Smash. Hudson is set for a multiple episode storyline in the upcoming second season of the show, playing Tony-Award winning Broadway actress Veronica Moore, and she will appear in the second season’s premiere. Smash also features former American Idol contestant Katherine McPhee and executive producer Steven Spielberg.

Hudson, who won an Academy Award in 2007 for her role in Dreamgirls, has stayed inactive following her brother-in-law’s conviction in the murder of her family, though she recently teamed up with John Fogerty to re-record Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Proud Mary.”
