Janet Jackson’s Unbreakable Tour Postponed Until 2017

Days after Janet Jackson revealed that she was postponing the remainder of her Unbreakable tour in order to start a family, Live Nation has clarified approximately how long the delay will last. In a statement to Us Weekly, the concert promoters wrote, “The Janet Jackson Unbreakable Tour in North America will be postponed until 2017. New dates will be announced at a later time, and tickets will be honored for the rescheduled dates.”

Live Nation added that fans seeking refunds for their tickets could receive them at their point of purchase. The second North American leg of Jackson’s Unbreakable Tour was scheduled to restart May 14th in Las Vegas and wrap up 50 shows later on August 28th in Cleveland.

“I’m gonna have to delay the tour,” Jackson said in a video Wednesday morning where she announced that she and husband Wissam Al Mana are “planning our family.” “Please if you can try and understand that it’s important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor’s orders.” Jackson didn’t specify whether she was already pregnant or how long the tour would be postponed.

The Unbreakable Tour marked Jackson’s first large-scale trek since 2011, but despite its indestructible moniker, the jaunt faced problems almost from the start. A month after the tour began, the singer had to postpone a handful of U.S. dates after doctors ordered that she rest her vocal cords. Two months later, she again postponed her North American tour in order to undergo an unspecified surgery, which fueled cancer rumors that Jackson quickly denied.

Despite rescheduling all her postponed dates, Jackson abruptly canceled her European tour without explanation. While it’s still unclear whether the nixed European trek was tied to Jackson’s desire to start a family, the singer did perform at the Dubai World Cup horse racing event on March 26th.
